Her dolls are breathtaking beautiful, strong statements and an inspiration.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lisalichtenfels.net\/index.html\">http:\/\/www.lisalichtenfels.net\/index.html<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-16\" title=\"intro_img001\" src=\"http:\/\/free-spirit.fancrone.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/intro_img0012-300x240.jpg\" alt=\"intro_img001\" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"http:\/\/free-spirit.fancrone.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/intro_img0012-300x240.jpg 300w, http:\/\/free-spirit.fancrone.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/intro_img0012.jpg 850w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Lisa Lichtenfels studied traditional oil painting at an early age, attended the Governor\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s School while a teenager and continued her education at the Philadelphia College of Art.\u00c2\u00a0There she met Judy Jampell, who was becoming well known for her three dimensional soft-sculpted facades.\u00c2\u00a0Inspired, Lisa was going to be an illustrator until the prospect of independent animation and filmmaking fascinated her.\u00c2\u00a0Graduating with majors in Illustration and Film, she was immediately hired by the Disney Studios as an apprentice animator.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>While working at Disney she developed three-dimensional figurines with posable skeletons for stop-motion animation.\u00c2\u00a0Like Judy Jampell\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s constructions, they had nylon stocking skins.\u00c2\u00a0Lisa left Disney to explore the potential of these techniques, expecting to return to animation in a year or so;\u00c2\u00a0 but it has now been over twenty-five years, and she is still working in nylon and feels she has only barely begun to realize what is possible in the medium.<\/p>\n<p>Lisa works in her studio of her Victorian home in Springfield, Massachusetts.\u00c2\u00a0There she creates startlingly realistic sculptures with a wide variety of subject matter, including fantasy, myth, humor, and\u00c2\u00a0 portraiture.\u00c2\u00a0The individual figures range from less than 5 inches to life-sized figures of over 5 feet tall.\u00c2\u00a0She also does large environmental installations with many characters.\u00c2\u00a0In this she is helped by her husband, the poet Jeremy Ward Wilson, who does her carpentry.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>These sculptures and installations have been sold directly, or through agents and galleries, to collectors from all over the world.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17\" title=\"gly03_img011\" src=\"http:\/\/free-spirit.fancrone.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/gly03_img011.jpg\" alt=\"gly03_img011\" width=\"850\" height=\"680\" srcset=\"http:\/\/free-spirit.fancrone.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/gly03_img011.jpg 850w, http:\/\/free-spirit.fancrone.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/gly03_img011-300x240.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00c2\u00a0I&#8217;m so inlove with her work.
